THURSDAY THOUGHTS
Anger Begins — Some Simple Thoughts
Time to control it
Little kids get angry at people, things, events, circumstances, etc.
We’re still learning about anger. It’s easier to manage as young adults and up when they can understand logic better. There are tips and tricks to overcome the wave of emotion we call anger.
Science believes that anger is in our blood. We also know that there’s an anger gene. We can even test for it.
From my perspective, the biggest issue with anger is how we respond to it. Does it make us upset or angry (as well)? Does it evoke an equal response, as though it were a physics problem?
Here’s the good news: we can control our response to just about everything, including anger. We can choose our own emotions or responses. No one has to choose it for us.
Try being angry and happy at the same time.
Oh, trust me, I’ve had some fun with this. One of my children seemed to be mad at everything and everyone. We later found out the problem, but in the meantime, we used happiness, and fun, to change the circumstances to help the child realize they didn’t have to be angry; they could be happy, but that you can’t be both.
