Are We Grateful Enough?

This is not a test, just personal awareness. Let’s see…
We have all seen the homeless, the invalid, and the individual with reduced mental acuity. How about the person that’s just told you that someone they care about has died? Pick any hardship. It’s hard to live in our society and not notice those of us that face challenges we don’t have to face every day. Or is it?
I’m going to go with “or is it?” Why? Because as a young man, I was busy thinking I would die at age 42. I was very successful, had a large home, an expensive car, a wife and children that were perfect for me (or so I thought), and wore very expensive clothing. Why should I care? What’s in it for me?
Here was my slap in the face or wake-up call: We were on our way to the airport when my first wife and I were discussing the fact she wanted some life changes, and she blurted out, “Do you know how you spell tact?” I chuckled and said, “Sure, T-A-C-T.” My wife said, “No, you spell it P-I-S-S. O-N. Y-O-U.” The look on her face confirmed she was dead serious. In addition, “You use people, get everything you can from them, and then toss them out like today’s garbage!”
