The most often question asked is, “What was done?” Of course, the answer is that they fused L2 to S1. Why?

I’m a former semi-pro football player from the sixties. Not much protection for players in those days. Faceguards didn’t get deployed in schools until 1960. That was the year of my first injury from playing football.

My first back surgery was the fusion of C3 and C4. That was 2003.

Next was the fusion of L4 — S1. I was sixty-eight, and the surgery went well. I walked well in six weeks and lifted up to five pounds when necessary.

This time around, it’s taken more out of me, but I’m still doing well.

Thank you.

If you’re contemplating surgery after selecting a good surgeon, fear not. Follow the directions for post-surgical care, and you should do well. I can tell you this; life is better post-surgery than before surgery. Full stop.
