Let’s face it; sometimes life comes at us like a taxi moving the wrong way up a one-way street. It’s a little tough to be grateful. However, you may be thankful for each vehicle you don’t hit.

For over fifty years, when I would travel for business to cities like New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc., I would always stop and say a prayer of thanks just for making it home to my family.

In the early ’80s, they hijacked one of my flights. I was thankful a friend pulled me off the flight just before it was to depart. The next day I found out about it when I called home. My wife was beside herself. There were two big dead Americans. At 6' 3" and 250 lbs, I qualified. My six children thought one of those was me.

Every day after that experience, I became a bit more grateful each day, especially when I returned home.

Life is precious. In a second, it can be gone.
