I was born and given three Christian names, like most babies in the mid-40s.

The graphic above is my altered signature with a seal I’m allowed to use— the Seal of Liberty from the organization of the same name.

Below is my current Coat of Arms. I took the original and incorporated a more modern design into it, and it became our Coat of Arms for this generation of Rawson’s.

Going back at least four generations, the eldest boy was called by family and friends a name that started out as initials and was tweaked a bit when I was born.

My great-grandfather was known as EJ. My grandfather was HH. The name that everyone knew my father as was EJ. When I was born, everyone called me DR.

My first fun experience being called Dr. was in kindergarten when the teacher asked Dr. Rawson to come up and get the milk to distribute to the class. Of course, everyone laughed. I did too.

My father died at age forty-two. Our mother died at forty-four. A few years later, I changed my name in honor of my parents. From then on, everyone called me DR. except for clients who were doctors. They called me Dr. Rawson. It was funny. Having traveled a lot, I can tell you that all over the world, when they see DR, they think Dr. and then say it out loud.

I’m grateful because whenever someone calls me DR, it refreshes my soul a little more.
