Few people know that Margaret is my third wife, and I'm her third husband.
My second wife was great. We fell madly in love, and with her three, we had nine children. Surprisingly, it wasn't the children; it was the fact that I didn't ask very many questions before we married. One day, she became who she really was. She was 5'2" talk. She hit me so hard that I thought I was playing semi-pro football again. So, four months later, I left, and she paid for the divorce.
Lesson: It isn't about looks or sex or a specific common interest; it's about getting to know one another and whether they are what you want.
Looks fade, sex diminishes as you age, and life has major ups and downs. The only way you'll know for sure you'll make it is if you really know one another. My first marriage lasted 26 years. At the end of summer, we'll celebrate 30 years. We're both still in love and love each other.
What did I miss in number 2? We didn't know each other.
