Finding Gratitude in Helping Others
It’s much easier to focus
Most of the things we want to accomplish can seem overwhelming until we break them down. Last week, we suggested, “How can I be helpful?” Asking this will produce many things that may need to be done. It may be overwhelming.
Instead, look around your community. See, with new purposeful eyes, the challenges your community, friends, church, school, family, and others need but have never shared.
Most people don’t hang a sign that says, I need help.
So, does helping bring about gratitude?
Not really. A lot depends on you. If you feel compelled to do something, it won’t be helpful. If you know that helping will help the circumstance and you understand how blessed you are, you’ll understand so much more. If so, then you’re on your way to discovering gratitude.
If someone helps you and you realize they are there to help you, you’re on your way.
When you can see that helping others is helping yourself, you begin to understand gratitude.
