#11 September 9/11 and how it affected you

Freedom Is Not Free

My son, my son, will he be OK?

Source Unknown; believed it was from one man he served with.

One of our basic instincts is to fight back when someone or something has hit us.

As I saw the towers get hit, my heart ached for the lives lost and the survivors. My son, Doug, had enlisted a few years before when our troops were in Kosovo. He was in Iraq before we knew we would be in Iraq. Then he went to Afghanistan. He did two and a half tours there. He was injured and could no longer serve his country.

My overwhelming thoughts were for the men and women that lost their lives and those that willingly gave their lives, in addition to the survivors.
