Give Yourself Permission
To do what you know you need to do to be you
Everyone arrives somewhere or at some age when they can hear the voice of others in their head shouting “don't _____.” You fill in the blank. Or, we arrive at a crossroads where we don't know what to do next.
May I suggest that you give yourself permission?
Someone once gave me permission to____ (what it was is of no importance). Giving yourself permission is the key.
Let's look at just some of the things where giving yourself permission can be used:
- To speak to that interesting man or woman at the coffee shop
- Dress appropriately, according to your standards
- To be poor, middle class, wealthy, or wherever you want to place yourself
- To be YOU— it helps to remember that everyone else is taken
You're probably beginning to get the idea. Our subconscious holds us back because of what we've seen, heard, or read.
When I was a young man, without formal education or training, a friend passed me a magazine I respected. He said, "Which of these people are you?”
