Some things just take time. My first marriage was twenty-six years. My second less than a year. Then I met the girl of my dreams—a dream I had when I was just five years old. A couple we both knew arranged our blind date. It was magical.

As I saw her standing across the room, I kept repeating, “I’m not this lucky.”

So many of us don’t make it in relationships, but to find my true love at age 48 is perhaps rare. When they introduced us, I knew she was the one I’d been looking for my whole life.

I’d been single for over three years. I missed the friendship, the love, the respect, and the desire to do anything to make each other happy.

After striking out twice, I asked her to compose a list of questions. I did the same. After the second date, I felt she was the one, but was she really? I thought I didn’t have enough time to find the right one. I had to be sure. I didn’t want to get five years in and ask about something that I love and find out she doesn’t like it or, perhaps, hates it.

So, we took our time. We asked each other so many questions. This wonderful woman finally said,
