A thought or two about engagement

It’s time we asked ourselves, why do you write? What do you expect from your writing?

I can finally say, in all honesty, that I’m looking for more. Like many of you, I write to get something out of my head. But, I also write to add my voice to the community.

At 75 years of age, I still have many thoughts and ideas that I’m exploring. I have three books in various stages of completion. I’ve just started a new company so that I can mix and mingle with those that are younger. I seek input.

The time it takes to add a clap or many is so minimal.

The effort to comment is only a slightly more significant commitment of time.

Consider the benefits

I didn’t start writing until I was thirty years old. At that point, I had just completed my Batchelor’s Degree in business. I wrote a book titled “How to sell.” I sold it in one week to a technical school. The deal included writing lesson plans for the SALES course they added to their curriculum. Selling the book was a great example of instant tangible feedback and encouragement. Still, it would be twenty-plus years before I wrote and sold my next book to General Motors on how to market via the Internet. Again, immediate feedback.
