Well, as a young husband and then as a father, this list was no stranger to us all. As a grandfather, it will take on a little different significance.
I know you’re already thinking about the cool things you want to do with the new little one. Playing, showing off, and having time next to them is a treat. The child of your child. Wow. You thought creating a child would be cool, and it was, but this, well, it’s a whole new level.
Now, to do all the things you want to do. Whoa, just a minute, grands (grandparents). It may be a challenge. Remember the cool things you did with your child? Now it’s their turn, and they want to do it with your grandchild.
You may have forgotten how fast time flies when you’re a young parent. To sum it up: It doesn’t. I know, but your time is fleeting. I’m sorry, it doesn’t matter. It’s their time. Please give it to them. Your time will come soon enough. Here’s the secret: make yourself available easily and readily.
Soon, they will call on you, your experience, and wisdom. Oh, don’t forget your ability to babysit. This is one of the many valuable services we will perform for children and grandchildren.
