Someone Asked, “Is It Still A Man’s World?”
Well, as a man, I’m going to say NO, but please read on.
I was 58 years old before I began to appreciate women's power over situations, others, and especially men.
One of my early clients was Marjorie. She was a retired Marine Corps Cornel and an R.N. When I met her, and she was the C.O.O. of a major Los Angeles area Hospital. Every night, there was at least one gunshot victim in the E.R.
As a consultant, I was hired to find a new President for the Hospital. Having interacted with the C.O.O., Marjorie, many times, it took about three minutes to arrive at the right answer.
Time was not on my side, but I waited a week before the Board of Directors would meet again. I specifically chose this meeting to make my recommendation. It was too long ago to remember the specific words, but it went like this:
Gentlemen, I want to tell you about the accomplishments of the candidate I’ve selected for your consideration. Let me point out that this person has been the C.O.O. at several hospitals since retiring as a Cornel in the military.
Results:
- At their current hospital, they have reduced expenses by eleven percent.
- Also, they have reduced Workers’ Compensation claims by over fifty percent.
