There Is A Notion That Real Men Don’t Do Self Care

These must be the people that don’t care about the quality of their life.

There was a time when self-care for men meant putting on Old Spice. Yep, we all smelled good for at least a portion of the day. My own children tell me that the smell of Old Spice reminds them of their youth.

There was a time when there were no jobs for me where we lived. So I decided to start a medical consulting business over two hundred miles away in Los Angeles. It meant coming home for weekends only. That’s when the thoughts about the quality of life became an issue.

It wasn’t long after that a friend asked if there was a spare bedroom he could rent at my home away from home. He was a friend; I didn’t hesitate; I said sure. So he was all moved in when I arrived Sunday afternoon to prepare for a busy week.

He was getting out of the shower, wearing a bathrobe for privacy, but his feet were naked. In my opinion, his feet had never seen a body lotion they liked, or my friend didn’t care about the condition of his feet. Either way, they were awful.
