There’s A Notion That One Person Is More Important Than Another

I was fortunate to have attended a school where everyone was different and the same. This happened in my elementary and middle school period of time. However, in high school, crossing the imaginary line of social standing had consequences.

As a kid, it was easy to notice that everyone was different than me. I didn’t care. However, I did notice that we were all poor. I did care about that.

In middle school, I felt and was treated the same.

Once I started dating, I was often told, “She’s out of your class, or she’s too good for you, or you can’t date her . . .” There was a notion that I had to date my same race. Who made that dumb rule? Another rule is, “If they dress better than you, pick someone else.” I was often told to stay away from this group of people or that group of people.

Now that was a rule that I so violently objected to. I probably went to great lengths to show others they were wrong. I saw EVERY girl as a potential date, as long as she was pretty and taller than 5 ft 5 inches (I’m 6 ft 3 “).

Don’t be a hater; it hurts my neck when I have to bend over to kiss. Everything else is and was just…
